Indian relay returns to Gillette, Wyoming, 2 PM both August 31 & September 1. New teams, new horses and the seasoned veterans will hit Morningside Park at the CAM-PLEX for two of the most extreme days of racing. Six states and Canada will race to earn their entry into the year-end Championship of Champions September 20th-22nd in Walla Walla, Washington. Indian Relay is a centuries old form of horse racing that shows the athleticism of both the rider and his horses. Riding bareback, the rider makes three laps around the track, each lap on a different horse processing both speed and skill."Thrills and spills" during this two-day event will have everyone on their feet cheering for teams as the chaos of having 4-6 teams (12-18 horses) on the track at one time makes it both dangerous and exciting.
Returning champion of the “Cloud Peak Energy 2018 Season Opener”, Dustin Kruger, S/M Express, from Lodge Grass, Montana will be there to try to defend his title.Kruger was also Champion at Eagle Butte Hometown Days, SD and went on to place second in the 2018 Championship of Champions in a nose to nose finish.
Plan to attend and cheer on your favorite team, buy them in the Calcutta, or pick a new uprising star Memorial Day Weekend at the Indian Relay Season Opener.
