National High School Rodeo returns to Gillette!

CAM-PLEX extends a BIG WELCOME BACK to the 62nd National High School Finals Rodeo on July 18-24, 2010! Gillette welcomes over 6,000 visitors from 41 states, 5 Canadian Provinces and Australia for an experience of a lifetime.

The NHSFR is the largest rodeo in the world with over 1,600 high school-aged competitors. This event offers something fun for everyone beginning with the Trade Show opening on July 17.

The nation's top high school cowboys and cowgirls will compete in 13 events during two daily rodeo performances at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm July 18-24. Then, the best-of-the-best compete in the Finals on Saturday, July 24 at 7:00 pm. Other activities you won't want to miss include the Foundation Scholarship auction, Volleyball Tournament, Knowledge Bowl, Queen contest and the Special Kid's Rodeo.

This summer is the 8th time the NHSFR will be in Gillette.... More than any other city in the nation! The Rodeo will move to Springfield, IL in 2012 & 2013 and to an undisclosed location in 2014 & 2015. It will return to its home here in Gillette in 2016 & 2017.

Volunteers are integral to CAM-PLEX...
Donating your time and effort to this event is a rewarding experience. We welcome individuals and  clubs or organizations volunteering together. Between the time the first of 1,500 contestants arrives on July 15 until the last horse leaves July 24, approximately 800 volunteers will be needed. No special skills are required, just a desire to present Gillette to the rest of the nation as the outstanding community that we know it to be. If you are willing to help with any aspect of the NHSFR, please contact our volunteer coordinator, ReNae Keuck at: volunteer@cam-plex.com or by phone 307.682.0552. Your time and energy will be greatly appreciated as you join CAM-PLEX, Gillette, and the National High School Rodeo Association in making the 2010 rodeo the best yet!

Become a State Host Family... Host families act as Gillette’s ambassadors for each state’s contestants, families and National Director; providing information on our community. Hosts are available to offer recommendations on doctors, auto repair, shopping, picnic arrangements, etc. Hosting is a rewarding experience often resulting in many lifelong friendships. New and past participants should contact the State Host Families Coordinator, Deb Johnson at: debj@vcn.com or 307.680.2300 for details.

Rent your home or RV to a contestant...Many contestants and their families will want to rent an RV or home for their stay in Gillette. CAM-PLEX will not coordinate rentals, instructing contestants to place a “Want-to-Rent” ad in the News-Record classifieds. Please watch the newspaper if providing a rental is of interest to you.

Rodeo Rides... If you are a horse owner, consider leasing your equine friend to a 2010 NHSFR competitor who cannot bring their own horse to Gillette. Owners must complete an application form for each horse and submit forms to the CAM-PLEX office by May 14th. Information will be presented in the “Rodeo Rides” catalogue distributed to interested NHSFR contestants who will negotiate directly with the horse owner to arrange a lease. Applications are available on the CAM-PLEX website Rodeo Rides Application or offices. For additional information contact, Charlene Camblin at:
indianprincess@wbaccess.net or by phone 307-464-0045.
