The Airstream trailer was invented in 1931 by Wally Byam, and while it has had many changes and improvements, the basic shape and design is still the same. It is said that more than 60% of all the Airstreams ever built are still on the road, indicating that they are built to last a lifetime.
During the 50's Wally Byam led several caravans throughout the US and around the world. In 1952 the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI) was formed, and it is the oldest and largest single brand RV Club in the world today. With nearly 14,000 people who are members in the US, Canada, and with members in Europe and Asia, WBCCI is the RV club that other RV clubs emulate.
The 53rd International Convention/Rally in Gillette, June 26-July 4, 2010, will bring in members from around the world to participate in the club business, compete in contests and games, attend seminars, and to renew friendships with other Airstreamers.
The public is invited to attend the Vintage Open House on the afternoon of June 28, 2010. Vintage Airstreams are 25 years or older. Also, there will be an Airstream dealer on site where the public will be able to see and buy new Airstream models from 9:00 am-5:00 pm each day of the rally. There will also be some used Airstreams for sale.
